To the Pumpkin Farm

Last week, amidst our sleepless nights, we decided to take an excursion with a few of our loved-ones to an adorable flower and herb garden nursery and pumpkin patch. We have been enjoying some of the fun country flavor the Gold Country has to offer, and this is probably one of our favorite outings so far. The pictures are not the best as they were taken with my phone. I know. Horrible phone photos. Promise that once I am back in my house, with internet, and a place for my computer the picture quality (and posts) will improve.

Fall is my favorite time of year and I was feeling really bummed that we were not getting to do any of our "usual" fall celebrations. Spending a morning picking out pumpkins that look like they were grown for a Cinderella fairy tale improved my mood, and made me realize that perhaps it's time I embrace this unusual circumstance and just enjoy each hour in it. The time will pass, and soon I will needing to be thinking about house work again, cleaning (check out the post on 10/18 from Jessica from the Good Little Life on Homemade Green House Cleaning Products-totally worth a read!), organizing and all that it takes to make a house a home.

We did plenty of running as there was much to see and touch for small hands. Giant pumpkins, old trucks that look straight out of the movie cars, oh and a perfect fire engine wagon to carry both toddlers and pumpkins in. It was a lovely way to spend a morning. Looking forward to a good week. I will be back in this space again in a few days. Check back on 10/18 for guest post with Jessica of the Good Little Life!

Solo Aqui: Eating Midnight Sunshine

Overwhelmed. Yes. Over...whelmed. That's how I have been feeling these last few weeks.Working too many jobs (3!), stressing about purchasing our new home (yay!), planning to move (uhg), just being a mom...shall I continue? And so, like with any overwhelming situation I decided to go for a walk.

On our walk we encountered blackberry bushes that were loaded with ripe delicious berries. We stopped, popping those little deep purple clusters  into our mouths. Their reminiscent tang electrifying my senses; reminding me of hot summer days, rolled up jeans and that lusty summer breeze.

those berries who drink in sunshine and squeeze the ink out of midnight rejuvenated my soul. Giving me the sense of ease I had been longing for. I went home knowing I could continue no matter what "whelming" task presented itself.

I think I shall go back to those berry bushes again tomorrow...

Our Visit to Lindsay Wildlife Museum

We had another rainy weekend and that meant no outdoor outings for us! So, instead, we headed over to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum for some hands-on fun with animals.
The museum had a lot for a young wee one to explore. Lot's of animals down at his eye level and space for him to run, climb, crawl and just get some of that energy out!
We came face to face with bunnies, hamsters, stuffer badgers and real live raptors...the feathered kind. All of the live animals at the museum are there due to an injury or are there to be rehabilitated and later released back into the wild.

In addition to all the fun things to look at and do they also have an exploration room filled with toddler-friendly toys and games. E just loved running back and fourth between the rooms and the bunnies. Definitely difficult to choose how to spend his time.

What fun outings have your family been on lately?
