June Recap

It's Friday and it's almost the last day of June. I can't believe it. This has been a month of crafty-craziness and sweet escapes for me. Since it was such a fun month, I kind of want to relive some of it. Here are some of my favorite posts from June:

3. I can't wait to use chia seeds in other recipes in July like I did in the vegan chia seed and dried cherry scone recipe. Maybe a 4th of July chia seed milk shake?

4. I have been in the process of making more of those cute memory games for all the little children in my life with summer birthdays. It's so much fun to come up with more versions!

5. Plus there have been more and more button snakes creeping into people's birthday bags this season too.

Kind Hearts Are Gardens

We've been spending a lot of time in the garden in these last weeks of summer. We even have our first melon (yes, that mystery plant is a honey dew!).All of my garden helpers love to spend their free time tending and caring for all our plants. E even calls the melon a "baby" and has to pat it after each watering (2x a day). Not sure where that thought came from, I am just thankful he's being gently with it...unlike his strawberries that he devoured before they ever had a chance to turn.

All of this garden time reminded me of a little rhyme my grandmother shared with me many  summers ago. In summer I often spent most of my time swimming in the river or digging for life in my Grandma's garden.

Kind hearts are gardens, 

Kind thoughts are roots, 

Kind words are blossoms, 

Kind deeds are fruits.

I can hardly believe it but, summer is flying by! Like with all seasons there are lists floating around our home containing snippets of ideas, things to do and items that need to made or completed. I thought you might enjoy having a peak into our summer "to do" list...or as I have been calling it, "My Summer Experience List."


1. Spend a week at the beach with family
2. Go camping for the first time with E
3. Learn to Make Jam
4.Buy Home
5. Successfully Grow a Garden
6. Complete all my holiday gifts
7. See this movie:Queen of the Sun
8. And see this movie too: Harry Potter...
9.Successfully grow at least one tomato
10. See the lillies bloom
11. Reach 100 followers (getting there!)
12. Submit at least 2 articles for publication
13. Attend at least one Peace & Love Swap
14. Hike a full-moon hike
15. Help host a Neighbor Night
16. Have a early morning coffee date with my man
17. Finally make the toys I have been dreaming about for E
18. Make Popsicles
19. Buy a pair of cowboy boots
20.Read at least 3 books

So, it looks like I have gotten some things done. Still have plenty to go! What is on your summer "to do" list?

Solo Aqui::: Sprouting

Everything seems to be sprouting around here! From a little boy outgrowing every pair of pants he owns (literally) to all of our baby plants who now stand proudly reaching for the sun.

Our citrus trees have begun to grow. Lemons, grapefruits and limes! They are so adorable and fuzzy.

The tomatoes flowers shout with glee as they relish the warm sun. 

Some of the tomato plants even have baby tomatoes!

To Garage Sale Or Not To Garage Sale

You would think based on the calendar that June should have arrived, but looking out my window this morning Mother Nature begs to differ. Rain, rain and more rain!

Nonetheless it is June, which  makes me excited because Garage Sale Season is HERE! Typically I am strictly a garage sale shopper. I have held my own garage sales in the past and they have been, I guess, what you would call "successful." Not mega cha-ching money makers, but they did help me off-load, and make room for, more treasures.

This season I find myself contemplating whether to hold a garage sale again. We have an impending transition and it wouldn't hurt to free ourselves from some of the stuff we have acquired.

There is something invigorating about sitting outside all day, bartering, pricing and chatting with neighbors that makes having your own garage sale fun. And, I guess, I would get rid of some of my unwanted items.

I don't know. I usually get rid of my unwanted items on Craigslist or Freecycle. That method typically works. But there is just something about hunkering down in a low-slung lawn chair that sounds tantalizing to me.

Adventuring:: Morning Picnic

You may have noticed that things here on my blogger space got a little wonky between Wednesday and Friday. Well, it turns out Blogger was doing some maintance and had some trouble which caused some chaos with posting. Looks like everything is fixed now. Yay!

Since Blogger was down, E and I decided to head out to the park and have a breakfast picnic!

Something about eating the first meal of the day outdoors sets a peppy mood to the rest of the day. I think I was literally beaming, waving, and gleefully engaging anything that moved after our meal. Kind of fun to bring a smile to a stranger's face as you walk by.

As you can see we picked up just simple bagles, coffee for me and milk for E. I do think we are just going to have to do this again very, very soon.
