On Daddy's Day

I didn't end up constructing a mini S'More's grill for my husband  for this year's Father's Day (See Yesterday's post). Instead we made cards  and printed photos for the grandpa's, and E and I made (well, I made) love notes to hide around our home for my husband to find. Love notes seem to be popular around our house lately (see this post), and I thought I should keep with this latest tradition.

My son and I are truly honored to spend our days with my husband, and he's such a great dad I thought leaving love notes with the top 10 reasons why we love him for him to find would be a special way to show him how much we care. At first it took a bit to figure out how to put my thoughts down in such small compact space as a sticky note. However, to my surprise it wasn't long before I had all 10 complete.

E and I  hid the notes around our home, and allowed my husband  to find them on his own time throughout the weekend. I think he enjoyed finding these notes tucked in unusual spaces like the refrigerator, his bed-side book, and in his closet. He now has his own little pile of love-sticky-notes  next to his side of the bed. I am hoping it will bring him joy for the next few days.

Wishing you and your family a Happy Father's Day!

DIY Father's Day Round-Up

I know Father's Day is tomorrow. And I know I probably should have done something for it already, but you know? Some how the time just never presented itself. So, here are some of my thoughts on what to make for all those great fathers out there. Guess I should get started!

My mind has been all about my garden...ahem...my family's garden lately (See this post...oh and this one too), so it would be fitting to make a love note that could be planted. Probably not the most timely gift, since it might take a while to make the paper. Gives me great thoughts though!

And you can never go wrong with something totally not necessary, but just simply cool...or hot right? I mean, who wouldn't want their own S'Mores Grill?! I think my father (and husband) would be all over this one.

And then there is always something to do with photos. I love this concept of taking a bunch of photos, shrinking them, and turning them into magnets. Perfect to display at work!

Do you have plans to make something for that special father(s) in your life in the next 24 hours? I would love to hear your plans!

Happy Weekend friends. Remember to also enter the lovely giveaways going on from Rachael Brooke Designs and Cubit's!

XOXO,
Julia

Found Words:: Love Note

There's nothing like leaving a little unexpected love note in an unexpected location...right? Well, the other day, while I was cleaning up E's toys, it dawned on me I hadn't really done anything spontaneous for my husband in a while to tell him how much I care about him. Nothing like what we used to do when we were first married. You know, like leaving sticky notes on bathroom mirrors with "I love yous" scrawled on them, or placing a single flower in a vase next to my bed (yes, he's a sweet man).

Anyway, I decided to leave a little love note for him constructed out of our son's dress-up beads on top of one of our play blankets. I left it there for my husband to discover (after E had gone to bed so there would be no disturbing of my "art"). I was so giddy I could barely contain myself. I had to take a picture just to calm myself down. My husband loved it and now I think we have the makings of a new tradition.

Have you left a love note for someone to find recently?
